Dungeons & Dragons (D&D)
Prepare for a journey, brave adventurers! There are epic threats to be faced, exciting tales to be told, and amazing friends to be made ahead!
It all starts at the D&D table, at any Board Game Barrister® store.
How does D&D work?
Think of D&D as cooperative group storytelling within a set of guiding rules.
As a player, you’ll create and control one fantasy character, making every story decision for them. Over the course of multiple sittings, or sessions, your character will steadily become more powerful—whether they’re on a path to become a perfectly precise archer, a knowledge-driven druid, or a catlike rogue.
Every difficult task your character attempts will require you to roll a die to see whether you succeed. The same system determines your success or failure at swinging a sword, climbing a rope, swallowing potent potions—even telling a bluff.
Your Dungeon Master will control the world around your characters, determining how other “non-player” characters in the story act, as well as what worldy events unfold. Settle in and get ready to tell your part of the story, because each D&D adventure has its own uniquely awesome and comical moments that make it hard to forget!
When do We Play?
We have public D&D groups meeting nearly every day of the week.
Most of these events are casual-play groups open to players of any experience level. Some of these casual-play groups are currently mid-campaign and may ask new players to create more powerful characters to start.
Some of our events, titled Adventurers League, are a bit more structured. While still welcoming to new players, these events require players to officially track their characters’ progress. The adventures we play at these events are distributed specifically for each new season of Adventurers League, so any adventure you take part in is also being experienced by players across the globe! [There will always be a low-level table available for new players to join.]
Entry to public D&D events is $5 or 300 MVP points, and every table’s Dungeon Master gets 1000 MVP points as thanks for their time spent and hard work!
Sign-Up at Your Event

- Beginning one hour before your event’s start time, you may sign up on our player form. This form will ask for:
- Your name,
- Number of players in your group,
- Whether you are a new player,
- Whether you are willing to be a backup DM,
- What tier characters they have available to play (New players are Tier 1)
- When a DM arrives at your Tier, you (and your group) will be called to the front to buy a ticket.
Non-Adventurers League Registration
- Beginning one hour before your event’s start time, you may purchase a ticket.
- At this point, staff will either mark that you are present for your reserved seat at a regular table, or find you a table to play at for the event.
Become a Dungeon Master
Perhaps you’ve been a DM for years, or you’ve DM’ed a couple of sessions, or are just now starting to consider taking the seat behind the screen. If any of the above apply to you, and you’d like to lead a table at Board Game Barrister, then you may consider yourself a BGB Dungeon Master!
We currently have a number of established weekly D&D groups that are always looking for additional DMs. Visit our event calendar to see about joining up with a pre-established group, or pick your own time to start fresh.
